

A Wuse Magistrate Court has remanded 27-year-old Chidera Njoku in prison for allegedly threatening to kill his mother in Abuja.
Chidera, who lives in Kabusa Village, is facing six charges, including assault, theft, extortion, mischief and criminal intimidation.
Prosecutor C.C. Okafor told the court that Chidera’s mother, Mrs. Ngozi Njoku, reported him to the police after he allegedly stole her belongings and turned violent against her and his sister.
Items reportedly stolen include a phone worth N140,000, a gas cylinder, cooking oil, and six bags of charcoal.
Things escalated when Chidera allegedly beat up his sister with a motor engine belt, leaving her injured, before demanding N200,000 from his mother and threatening to kill her if she refused.
Magistrate Ekpenyong Inyang ordered that he be remanded in a correctional centre until the next hearing fixed for October 6.
