The Oyo State Government has approved N17.1 billion for the dualisation of Ajia Road in Ibadan, a move aimed at improving transportation infrastructure and easing traffic flow.
State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr. Mojeed Mogbonjubola, disclosed the approval while briefing journalists on the outcome of the weekly State Executive Council (SEC) meeting Tuesday.
He stated, “The project work will start at Ajia junction on the Ibadan-Ife Expressway and terminate at the Nigeria Air Force Base in Ajia. The contractor has been given 12 months to deliver the project.”

“We are committed to ensuring timely completion without compromising quality.”
He also revealed that the reconstruction of the 30-kilometre Okaka-Otu Igbojaye road project was approved during the same meeting, with a budget of N26.4 billion.
Additionally, N1.9 billion has been allocated for the completion of the remaining two kilometres of the 20-kilometre Apete-Awotan concrete road project, which includes a spur to Akufo Farm settlement.
The commissioner noted, “Eighteen kilometres of the Apete-Awotan road had been completed previously, and now the remaining two kilometres are being prioritised for full completion to ensure smooth connectivity.”
Mogbonjubola further said on the Ojoo-IITA-Akinyele interchange project, “The contractor has been given 18 months to complete this 13.6-kilometre dualisation project.
“This project will support the rail transport corridor at Moniya and facilitate better economic activities in the area.”
