Former Minister of Communications and senior All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Adebayo Shittu, has formally announced his intention to run for the Oyo State governorship in the 2027 elections.

The declaration came on Monday,  during an exclusive interview on Frontline, a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM, Ilese-Ijebu.

Shittu, a veteran politician with a career spanning more than four decades, emphasized that his experience, resources, and vision make him the most qualified candidate for the state’s top job.

“I am ready for government. Even if I get to government today

“I already know and have a clear idea; I want to transform Oyo State like it had never happened before,” Shittu declared on Monday.

The Oke-Ogun indigene also highlighted the need for political rotation in Oyo State, pointing out that his region has never produced a governor despite having ten local governments.

“The thing must rotate; it cannot be Ibadan alone all the time. We are in a democracy, not in a dictatorship; ‘enough is enough for Ibadan’,” he added.

Addressing age-related concerns, the 72-year-old elder statesman insisted, “Age is just a number.

“If you want to compare me, do that in terms of intelligence and dynamism. I’m as strong as, if not stronger than, anyone my age.”
