The Taraba State House of Assembly on Monday swore in Hon. Abner Shittu, the newly elected member representing Karim Lamido I state Constituency.
Hon Shittu during the swearing in held at the assembly chamber, Jalingo took an oath of allegiance and the oath of membership of the House which is in line with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Shittu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently won the bye-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacant seat.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon Kizito Bonzena in his remarks, congratulated Hon. Shittu and urged him to provide effective representation for the people of Karim Lamido I state Constituency.
During the sitting, the Assembly also passed the Taraba State Mortgage and Property Board Bill after its third reading.
The bill, if signed into law by the governor, will provide a framework for regulating mortgage transactions and managing property development across the state.
He stressed that the House would continue to enact laws that drive development and good governance in the state.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the swearing-in, Hon. Shittu pledged to work closely with his colleagues in the assembly and prioritise the needs of his constituents.
He also promised to collaborate with security agencies to address security challenges in Karim Lamido local government area and foster unity among the people.
