The European Business Chamber (Eurocham) hosted the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, at its exclusive C-Level Business Forum in Lagos, underscoring its growing role as a platform for constructive engagement between policymakers and European businesses.
Governor Cardoso used the forum to share the Central Bank’s reform agenda, stressing the importance of restoring trust in Nigeria’s monetary policies. He reaffirmed the CBN’s commitment to ensuring currency stability, achieving single-digit inflation, and maintaining a resilient banking sector capable of supporting sustainable economic growth.
The fireside chat, moderated by Eurocham Director and Chief Country Representative of Deutsche Bank Representative Office Nigeria, Mr. Andreas Voss, gave CEOs of European companies the opportunity to directly engage the CBN governor on issues such as foreign exchange management, investor confidence, and long-term economic reforms.
Cardoso welcomed the dialogue, noting that consistent engagement with the business community is central to Nigeria’s economic strategy.
Eurocham President, Mr. Yann Gilbert, described the Chamber’s mission as “the bridge that connects European innovation with Nigerian opportunity.”
Closing the session, Eurocham General Manager, Mr. Chigozie Okwara, said the forum marked “the beginning of a deeper continuum of collaboration that will shape EU–Nigeria relations and deliver tangible value for both economies.”
