At the end of the intense competition, Miss Lagos was declared first runner-up, while Miss Bauchi, Miss Edo, Miss Cross River, and Miss Nasarawa finished as second to fifth runners-up.

Ekwebenam’s victory continues Nigeria’s consistent presence at Miss International, succeeding Perpetual Ukadike, who represented the nation at the 2024 edition of the global pageant.

Regarded as one of the world’s “Big Four” beauty contests, the Miss International pageant emphasizes not just beauty and elegance but also cultural exchange and social advocacy.

Ekwebenam is set to lead initiatives that showcase Nigeria’s rich heritage and foster goodwill globally.

In a turn of events that brought Anambra into Nigeria’s pageant limelight, Onyinyechi Basil, also representing the state, won the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 title at a separate event in Lagos.

Basil secured the crown following a thrilling finale, facing off against Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, as the final two contestants before being officially declared the winner by the organisers.

Other top contenders were Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, who claimed second runner-up, and Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, who placed third runner-up.

The dual triumph places Anambra in possession of both of Nigeria’s premier international beauty titles, a milestone praised by industry observers as unprecedented.

With Ekwebenam and Basil gearing up for their respective international contests, pageant enthusiasts are keenly watching to see Nigeria’s performance at Miss International in Japan and Miss Universe later this year.
