Ali Baba Evicted From Victoria Island Property After Court Ruling

Veteran Nigerian comedian Ali Baba has been evicted from his Victoria Island residence in Lagos, alongside his company, XQZMOI TV, following a court-ordered writ of possession issued on August 15, 2025.

The property, which Ali Baba purchased for ₦220 million in 2021 from the federal government through the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), became the subject of a prolonged legal battle.

AMCON had claimed to have sold the property as part of efforts to recover debts allegedly owed by Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited.

However, in a ruling delivered on July 31, 2025, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa dismissed AMCON’s case, stating that the corporation failed to provide sufficient proof of the alleged indebtedness. The court not only directed that the property be restored to its original owner but also ordered AMCON to pay ₦500 million in damages.

Ali Baba’s involvement in the matter stemmed from the timing of his purchase.

Reports indicate that the comedian, who had previously been a tenant of the property’s original owner, went ahead to buy the building while the ownership dispute was still before the court, despite an active preservation order.
