The Kano state chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, the House of Representatives member for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, over alleged anti-party activities.
Party chairman Hashim Dungurawa said Jibrin’s repeated media outbursts against the NNPP and its leadership prompted the expulsion.
He described Kofa as a “weak politician” whose victory was only possible through the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform.
“If he were truly strong, he would have won under the APC. His success came through NNPP and Kwankwasiyya,” Dungurawa said.
He added that a reconciliation committee had tried to engage Jibrin after his Channels Television interview, but the lawmaker’s subsequent remarks crossed the line.
“He openly declared loyalty outside the party. That is why he has been expelled,” the chairman explained.
Dungurawa dismissed speculation that Jibrin might return to the APC, saying it would not weaken the NNPP, which remains strong under Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Earlier, the party had suspended four other Kano lawmakers over alleged anti-party behavior.
Those suspended are Senator Kawu Sumaila, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Ali Madakin Gini, and Sani Abdullahi Rogo.
