…targets N1.5 billion revenue before the year-end
Saidu Kabiru Dakata, director-general, Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency, says his organisation is set to emulate the successes recorded by Lagos State in the area of the management and control of outdoor advertisement in the State.
The agency also said it is targeting a total revenue collection of about N1.5 billion in the remaining quarter of the year, from companies and agencies involved in the removal of advertisements.
Dakata, who made this known during his maiden interaction of the top officials of the state, in Kano, disclosed that the organisation is determined to sensitise the signage operational environment in the state.
He noted that the Agency which was enacted into existence through state legislation in April this year, and commenced operation in May, will be regulating advertisement environment in the 44 Local Government Areas.

He stated that the operations of the Agency include overseeing the activities of the Out-Door Advertising Companies, Agencies, and other stakeholders in the signage sector, as well as operators of advertisements mounted on branded vehicles.
“We are here today to introduce our Agency to you journalists. You are aware that we were enacted into law by the Kano State House Assembly on the 4th of April, 2025, and our amenable Governor, His Excellency, Engineer Abba Kabiru Yusuf, signed the act into law in the month of May, in the year.
“The Agency has since started operation with four directors. Our main task is to regulate, control outdoor advertising activities in the state,e. Through our operations, we are able to generate revenue for the state.
“As you know before our establishment, such agencies only existed in states such: Laos and Riversand. Without coming on stream, Kanthisas joined the league of these stateAndand we set to emulate what Lagos is doing in the regard.
“We will be learning from the good work that our sister Agency in Lagos is doing, and before the end of the year. We are targeting revenue collection of about N1.5 billion, while, in 2026, we hope to grow the Agency revenue to N3 billion”, the director-general of FSenter stated.
It has achieved its objective, Dakata said that officials had sent notice of it to the targeted stakeholders, noting that the billboard Agency had also began mapping out the location, number, and sites where Bill Board are placed in the state.
In the same vein, he further said that the Agency is also out to identify locations and own offices across the state, with a view to ensuring that they obey the stipulated provisions of the law.
“In all our operations, we are ready to work with the professional body regulating advertisement, and the other Federal Agencies involved in the monitoring of advertisement, like the National Advertisement Regulatory Council of Nigeria, to ensure that the contents of the production with prevailing values, Cult values, and traditions of the people of the State.
“In doing this, we will also ensure that we are guided by Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf’ s quest to wane Kano State from continuing dependent on the Federal Revenue Allocation”, he noted
