The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced that Nigerian troops killed several terrorists, arrested 85 suspects, and rescued 66 kidnap victims in August 2025 operations nationwide.
Major-General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, shared the update during a Thursday briefing in Abuja.In the North East, Operation Hadin Kai neutralized Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, arrested 15 suspects, and rescued 8 victims.
In the North West, troops eliminated terrorists in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Katsina, arresting 23 and freeing 24 hostages. Operation Enduring Peace in North Central killed several terrorists, arrested 7, and rescued 2, with N3 million in ransom seized in Plateau.
Operation Whirl Stroke in Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi, and the FCT arrested 9 extremists and rescued 13 hostages.The operations recovered arms, ammunition, vehicles, and explosives.
The DHQ praised inter-agency collaboration and reaffirmed its commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda’s security goals.
