Chelsea fullback Marc Cucurella has advised La Liga clubs to spend big during the transfer window if they are to compete with the Premier League.
The Spanish international stated this on the backdrop of how clubs in the Premier League spent big to sign players this summer.
“I think the distribution of money in England is more equitable. For example, the teams that get promoted receive a lot of money and, in the end, this allows all the teams to sign great players, levelling the league. That’s why every game in the Premier League is a battle,” Cucurella told AS.

“Sunderland, newly promoted, invested €200 million in players, and Crystal Palace signed two of La Liga’s best, Yeremy and Uche. It’s a problem they should solve, because La Liga is losing ground to the Premier League and this pushes players to play in England.
“Barcelona and Real Madrid can compete with Premier League clubs. They’re both very strong. When I arrived in England, at my first team, Brighton, I was surprised that English players wanted to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona, not Arsenal or Chelsea. That’s when I understood the appeal of Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
