NNPC Limited has appointed two seasoned executives, Mr. Andy Odeh and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, to lead its corporate communications and stakeholder relations functions. Mr. Odeh takes on the role of Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Adewunmi has been named Chief Relations Officer.
In announcing the appointments, NNPC stated: “The appointment of Mr. Odeh and Mrs. Adewunmi reflects NNPC Limited’s commitment to enhancing communication and engagement with stakeholders.”
Mr. Odeh brings over 30 years of experience spanning the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting sectors. Before joining NNPC, he spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), holding leadership positions in Community Relations and Development; Business Logistics and Services; Information Management and Technology; Corporate Communications and Public Affairs; Government Relations and Regulatory Compliance; and, most recently, as General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development.
He is recognised for leading major public relations and advertising campaigns for top brands and for managing NLNG’s rebranding. “At NLNG, he successfully implemented one of Nigeria’s best-run micro-credit schemes for host communities and was instrumental in instituting the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting,” the company noted. Mr. Odeh is an alumnus of the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Mrs. Adewunmi, a legal professional with more than 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, brings expertise in stakeholder management and advocacy, particularly from her tenure at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). She is highly regarded for her ability to navigate complex external landscapes, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect a company’s “License to operate.”
At Shell, she held critical roles including Regulatory Affairs Manager, managing all mandatory regulatory engagements and permits, and Government Relations Manager, where she built and maintained constructive relationships with the Presidency, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. NNPC highlighted that Mrs. Adewunmi is “known for her strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build robust stakeholder networks” and is a subject matter expert on non-technical risks. She studied law at the Nigerian Law School and Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The appointments, announced on 2nd September 2025 in Abuja, mark a strategic move by NNPC Limited to strengthen its communications and external relations functions at a time of heightened industry engagement.
