Engage Fulani community while making policies on security – Daily Trust


Human rights activists and former Kaduna Senator, Comrade Shehu Sani, has called for government engagement of Fulani Community in security policy-making as a measure to overcoming banditry and terrorism in the north.

Shehu Sani stated this at the Annual Pulaku Day organized by the National Association of Fulbe Students, ABU, held at NEARLS Zaria.

Comrade Sani emphasized the need for the Fulani community to be actively engaged in decision making on security issues as the actions of the bandits is grossly tarnishing the reputation and acceptability of Fulani race.

“While I appreciate the government in combating banditry and terror attacks, I also want to advocate that government should engage the Fulani community in policy making on security issues to achieve desired results.

“I want to applaud the effort of ABU students for setting a good precedent towards uniting the Fulbes as well as exploring solutions to lingering issues affecting the Fulani race.”

The former Senator who condemned widespread banditry on both Muslims and Christians communities, stressed the importance of coming together to foster tangible solution to the menace irrespective of tribal affliction.

The activist urged the Fulani to also come out in strong term to oppose and condemn banditry and terrorism on both Muslims and Christian communities and prevail on their members for peace to reign.

He said decisive action must be taken against all criminal elements perpetrating evil devoid of ethnic background in order to achieve the desired result.
