Legendary highlife singer Bright Chimezie has refuted the notion that smoking or drinking alcohol enhances an artist’s creativity.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the CreativTea Podcast, posted on X on Monday, the singer described such assumptions as misleading, stressing that indulging in those habits is merely for leisure.

“The claims that you need to drink or smoke to get music inspiration is false. If you are drinking or smoking, you are just having fun. That doesn’t mean it will boost your creativity,” Chimezie said.
The veteran further emphasised that true artistic inspiration is natural and does not require stimulants.
