Oyebamiji denies INEC conspiracy allegation, seeks probe of ‘fake audio’ – The Sun Nigeria

The Managing Director of National Inland Waterways (NIWA), and governorship aspirant in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has denied the purported audio accusing him of conspiring with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to facilitate massive registration of supporters in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration to aid the winning of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 governorship election in the state.

A statement made available to our correspondent by the coordinator, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts, Adebayo Adedeji, on Monday, urged the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Security (DSS) to investigate the audio and ensure that the culprits are brought to book.

The audio claimed that out of 393,269 applicants enrolled in the INEC pre-registration exercise, 118,000 registrants (30% of the total) were recorded by pro-AMBO supporters, attributing this feat to an alleged unholy alliance between INEC and AMBO.

“We categorically state that this audio is fabricated to malign Oyebamiji’s name and undermine the APC’s expected success in the upcoming election.

“Why would Asiwaju Oyebamiji compromise the electoral process to win a contest that is already lost by the governing party given the party’s woeful and lackluster performance in office in 33 months?

“Governor Adeleke has already edged himself out of office, owing to his unjust policies, therefore, it’s unnecessary for APC to resort to backdoor tactics to defeat the governor in 2026.

“With 1,500 teachers, 300 health professionals, and 20,000 O’YES cadets sacked by the Adeleke government still on hand to exercise their franchise, APC’s victory is imminent as the victims of the poor judgement of the government would be available to inflict injury on the re-election bid of those behind their lack of livelihood.

“Why should APC bribe INEC officials for favour in 2026 when over 32,000 job applicants, who paid application fees in the failed teacher’s recruitment but none was offered job, are lurking around to disgrace at the poll the characters responsible for their woes?

“In 2026, the thousands of University of Ilesa undergraduates, rescued by the APC’s Student Loan ( NELFUND) of President Bola Tinubu, would rather elect an APC Candidate in the state, than re-electing their tormentor who is charging them N1.5 million school fees per session.

“Again, students (and parents of students) of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Osun State University, Osogbo and other tertiary institutions in the state who are major beneficiaries of the roads, lecture theatres and other massive infrastructure built by the federal government’s TETFUND under Tinubu in their schools, would rather go APC way in 2026 than supporting the Adeleke government which have increased and doubled school fees twice since assumption of office.

“We maintain that Oyebamiji is a credible politician who is relying on his experience, good interpersonal relationships, and actionable plans for the people of Osun to ace in the 2026 election. He and his party are not banking on rigging, as speculated in the fabricated audio, but on the party’s achievements and development record over the years.

“The AMBO Media Fronts once more distances Oyebamiji from the malicious audio in circulation and affirms his resolve to run an issue-based campaign and play by the fair electoral process,” Adedeji said.
