Northern Nigeria Has Been Defeated Physically, Tactically Due To Leadership Failure

Prominent social commentator, Mahdi Shehu, has declared that Northern Nigeria is already defeated both physically and tactically due to deep-rooted societal and leadership failures.

In a statement shared on his official X handle on Sunday, Shehu attributed the region’s current crises to greed, shortsightedness, and systemic weaknesses, accusing some Northern leaders of mortgaging the region for personal comfort and selfish gains.

“The defeat became inevitable on account of the avoidable stupidity and shortsightedness of most Northerners,” Shehu wrote.

He stressed that a society guided by selfish and cowardly elders, who are overly focused on survival rather than progressive leadership, is bound to collapse. According to him, Northern Nigeria has gradually slipped into a state of inaction and dormancy that has left it vulnerable.

“A society whose elders are largely selfish, cowardly, or overly focused on survival is destined for defeat. Such is the case with Northern society. When a society spends its mornings, afternoons, and nights in a state of sleep or inaction, it drifts into a coma from which it may never awaken. This too describes the North,” he stated.

Shehu further painted a grim picture of the North, highlighting widespread hunger, rising death tolls from killings, arson, deliberate murders, starvation, disease, malnutrition, infrastructural decay, and the collapse of cultural values. He argued that these conditions are undeniable signs of a conquered society.

“With the level of hunger in the North, increasing death tolls from wanton killings, arson, deliberate murder, hunger, starvation, all forms of diseases, malnutrition, total collapse of infrastructure, compromised culture and values, total confusion, disarray, frustration, which are all signs of a conquered society, what remains is for the North to surrender and become prisoners of war,” he lamented.

According to the commentator, if the trend persists, many Northerners could eventually be reduced to war slaves in Southern states such as Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, or Ondo, where they may gradually lose their identity and merge into a single ethnic community.

“The North became conquered and decimated under democracy with both bullets, economics and its democratic stupidity and docility,” Shehu added.
