The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, has called on motorists to exercise caution and reduce speed during the ember months in order to curb avoidable road accidents.
The FRSC Route Commander in charge of the Sagamu–Ore–Benin Expressway, Mr. Nasir Mohammed, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ota.
Mohammed explained that although speeding may appear enjoyable, it remains one of the deadliest causes of road crashes. He stressed that drivers must refrain from excessive speed to prevent unnecessary disasters on the highways.

“We urge motorists to obey traffic signs and adhere to average speed limits to prevent avoidable crashes during the ember months,” he said.
The commander further cautioned against night travel, reckless driving, and wrongful overtaking, describing them as high-risk behaviors that often result in fatal accidents.
He also warned motorists against drunk driving, noting that alcohol impairs judgment and significantly increases the chances of road mishaps.
Mohammed reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to intensifying public enlightenment campaigns and continuous patrols across major routes to educate motorists on the dangers of violating traffic regulations.
