OWERRI – The ‘MTN GO MAD Campus Invasion’ aimed at inspiring, connecting and empowering young Nigerians with digital tools has taken place at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
The three-day event, among other things, featured gaming competitors, Cinema experiences by the students of the institution, as well as surprise live performances with the biggest moment being the gift of a black colour Changan ALSVIN car to a 500 level student – Nduka Chidera Judith of the Department of Biochemistry.
Throwing more light on the essence of the event, the Youth Segment Manager for MTN Telecom plc – Femi Adesina described it as a dynamic and engaging function that brings MTN’s “Go make difference” campaign directly to the nation’s tertiary institutions.
According to Adesina, MTN as an organisation is committed and poised for a stronger virile position and to support the nation in youth empowerment.
With a proposition, which embodies MTN voice data attached to it such as video and music services, social media, social media bundles, Adesina added that the empowerment was meant to offer opportunities to students with business ventures, business outfits to enable them to sell their products.
“We have already done this at the University of Abuja, the University of Calabar, University of Port Harcourt, and the University of Ibadan and would thereafter take the programme to the University of Benin, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Lagos, Bayero University Kano, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, and we have VR and AR games (Visual Reality) and Argument Reality).”
