“PDP Has Remained Nigeria’s Most United Party Since 1998” – Jonah Jang

Former Plateau State Governor, Senator Jonah Jang, has insisted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains one of the most united political parties in Nigeria, despite challenges since its formation in 1998.

Speaking on Friday, during a caucus meeting of the Plateau North Senatorial District of the PDP, Jang maintained that the party’s foundation has remained firm at the national level.

“Since 1998, the PDP has remained one of the most united political parties in Nigeria. No faction has been able to shake its foundation,” he said.

He expressed displeasure at the attitude of some founding members who have defected to rival parties, questioning their loyalty.

“It makes no sense to me when I hear founding members of PDP defecting to another party. How can a founding father abandon his own house? A true and genuine founding father will not abandon his house, no matter the level of provocation,” Jang declared.

The elder statesman further noted that the sacrifices of the PDP’s pioneers must not be allowed to go to waste.

According to him, “The PDP was built on sacrifice, dedication, and service to the nation. Those of us who laid the foundation did so with the belief that this house would endure.

“We cannot allow temporary setbacks to destroy what we started.”

At the gathering, stakeholders endorsed Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, for a second term. His deputy, Josephine Piyo, and the state party chairman, Chris Hassan, were also backed for another tenure.

Jang stressed that the endorsement was proof of unity within the Plateau PDP.

“What we have done today is to show that our party in Plateau remains solid.

“We are together, we are focused, and we will keep the PDP strong,” he added.
