Fenerbahce have confirmed the dismissal of Jose Mourinho as their manager following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League league phase.
The Turkish side was eliminated by Benfica, a result that came just a day before the decision to part ways with the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho, 62, had been in charge for only eight months and leaves the club after managing just two matches this season.

Despite leading Fenerbahce to a second-place finish in the Super Lig, the former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Roma manager failed to secure any trophies during his tenure.
“The club has decided to part ways with Jose Mourinho after careful consideration of recent results and performances,” Fenerbahce stated in a press release on Friday.
“While we acknowledge his experience and contributions, we believe this decision is in the best interest of the team’s future ambitions.”
During his time in Istanbul, Mourinho oversaw disappointing campaigns in domestic and European competitions. Fenerbahce was knocked out of the Turkish Cup at the quarter-final stage and eliminated from the Europa League round of 16 by Rangers.
These setbacks, combined with the Champions League exit, ultimately influenced the club’s decision.
Fans and analysts noted that while Mourinho brought tactical acumen and vast experience, the team struggled with inconsistent performances in crucial matches.
“We expected a stronger push in both domestic and European competitions, but the results fell short,” a club official added.
