Manchester United have accepted a bid from Real Betis for winger Antony, according to Old Trafford sources.
While officials at Betis say some details are still to be finalised, United consider the transfer agreed and have granted the Brazilian permission to travel to Spain to complete his medical.
The 25-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Betis in the second half of last season, helping the club secure a European spot and featuring in the side that lost to Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League final.
Antony was among five United players, alongside Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia, who were exiled from the first-team squad this summer.
United have already sent Rashford on loan to Barcelona, while Garnacho is set to be unveiled as a Chelsea player after a £40m move.
For Betis, Antony’s permanent return follows a productive loan spell in which he scored five goals and provided two assists in 17 La Liga appearances.
The transfer, however, closes the chapter on what is widely regarded as one of United’s most disappointing signings.
Antony joined from Ajax for £81.3m in August 2022, the second-most expensive signing in the club’s history, behind Paul Pogba, but quickly faded after a bright start. His last Premier League start came in the 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace in May 2024, while his final league goal was against Burnley a week earlier.
Reflecting on his struggles at United, Antony told TNT Sports Brazil that his loan move to Betis restored his happiness:
“In England, I lived very hard days for me. But at Betis, I found happiness again, and that also made my family feel better.”
