Folajinmi Oyekunle, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared the winner of the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, which took place on Saturday.
The result was announced by Professor Abiodun Oluwadare of the University of Ibadan, the INEC Returning Officer, at the end of the collation exercise at Ikolaba High School, Ibadan.
Oluwadare revealed that Oyekunle got 18,404 votes, beating the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adewale Olatunji, by a distance margin with 8,312 votes.
Femi Akin-Alamu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded 88 votes, while Olabisi Olajumoke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 40 votes.
Oluwadare added that the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, Hammed Badmus, had 18 votes.
“This is the declaration. I, Professor Abiodun Oluwadare, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2025 Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, held on the 16th day of August, 2024.
“That Folajinmi Oyekunle of the Peoples Democratic Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner of the election,” Oluwadare stated.
