Three Stolen Cars Recovered In Kano As Police Nab Two Suspects


The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspected automobile thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles in different operations across the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, explained that the success was the result of coordinated, intelligence-driven police operations.

He noted that the achievement reflects the command’s determination to combat motor vehicle theft and protect lives and property across Kano State.

According to PUNCH, on August 18, 2025, at approximately 4:16 pm, a female resident of Badawa Quarters reported that her 2011 ash-colored Hyundai Elantra was stolen from outside North Field Montessori Academy in Nasarawa GRA, Kano.

Kiyawa said, “Following a meticulous investigation and tactical operation, the vehicle was traced and successfully recovered in Zaria, Kaduna State, on August 23.

“In another case, a man identified as Moses from Sabon Gari Quarters reported the theft of his Pontiac Vibe (2006 model, ash colour, registration number ABJ 739 JK) on August 5, 2025.

“Credible intelligence led to the recovery of the vehicle in Adamawa State.”

Likewise, on August 18, 2025, police were tipped off by a good Samaritan regarding the theft of a sky-blue Toyota Sienna bus (registration number GAK 556) from Bauchi State.

Kiyawa added, “Our patrol team attached to Wudil Division acted swiftly and intercepted the vehicle. Two suspects, identified as Yunusa Muhammad, also known as Yellow, aged 35, and 23-year-old Abdulwahab Bala, both from Bauchi State, were arrested.”

The police spokesperson stated that the suspects would face court charges once investigations are completed, and the recovered vehicles would be handed back to their rightful owners.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised the operatives for their professionalism and expressed gratitude to the public for their support.

“We urge residents to continue supporting the police by reporting suspicious movements to the nearest station or through our hotlines. Together, we can make Kano safer,” Bakori said.
