Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has reportedly won a long-running legal battle against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), over unpaid salary and bonuses amounting to €60 million.
A French court on Tuesday ordered PSG to pay Mbappe outstanding wages and bonuses owed to the France captain. The ruling follows a protracted dispute that reached the Paris labour court in November.
Mbappe had initially been seeking €263 million in damages, while PSG counter-sued the 26-year-old forward for €240 million. However, the court awarded Mbappe just over a fifth of the amount he claimed.

The judgement found that PSG failed to pay three months of Mbappe’s salary between April and June 2024, as well as an ethics bonus and a signing-on bonus stipulated in his contract. It is understood that the bulk of the awarded sum relates to bonuses rather than basic salary.
In May, €55 million in PSG’s accounts was frozen at the request of Mbappe’s legal team as part of the proceedings.
“We are satisfied with this ruling. This is what you could expect when salaries went unpaid,” Mbappe’s lawyer, Frederique Cassereau, said.
In a further statement, Mbappe’s legal team added, “This judgement confirms that commitments entered into must be honoured. It restores a simple truth: even in the professional football industry, labour law applies to everyone. Mbappe scrupulously respected his sporting and contractual obligations for seven years, right up to the final day.”
PSG have accepted the ruling but have not ruled out an appeal. The club had sought compensation linked to Mbappe’s failed €300 million transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in 2023. Mbappe instead joined Real Madrid on a free transfer the following summer.
In a statement, PSG said: “Paris Saint-Germain takes note of the judgement pronounced by the Paris Labour Court, which it will execute, while reserving the right to appeal.
“The club has always acted in good faith and with integrity and will continue to do so. Paris Saint-Germain now looks to the future, based on unity and collective success, and wishes the player the best for the rest of his career.”
