Firm offers N13m to boost 3 tech startups – Daily Trust


An outsourcing firm, All Talentz has empowered three tech startups with N13 million to boost technological advancements in Africa.

The three tech startups were offered the fund, shared according to the cash prize for respective positions in the just concluded maiden Hackathon.

The Hackathon witnessed the presentation of 10 teams that pitched their business ideas and proffered solutions.

After their presentations, three were adjudged as the winners, winning N10m, N2m and a million as the first, second and third position respectively.

The winners were team Imago (Nigeria), team Waste to Wages (Nigeria) and UniCBT (Kigali).

The US Consul General in Lagos Rick Swart commended the participants, saying African talents are pushing beyond boundaries to solving global problems.

“The reality that we all know is that talent is everywhere in Nigeria. I am also impressed by the number of Nigerians committed not just to solving Lagos, Nigerian or African problems but global problems through their entrepreneurial spirit and knowledge of technology,” he said.

 

The founder, AllTalentz, Sadiq Isu said beyond the cash prize, the firm will fund the startup which emerged as the first position to the tech world conference in San Francisco by October.

 

He stressed that the Hackathon was designed to discover and support talent innovation, saying the country is blessed with innovation.

 

“Majority of the time when we talk about Nigeria and Nigerian youth, people really don’t understand what we stand for. In order for us to actually take that message out to the right people, we decided to create something like this,” he said.
