Liverpool boss Slot to hold talks with unhappy Salah

Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he will meet Mohamed Salah on Friday before deciding whether the forward will feature in this weekend’s Premier League match against Brighton.

Salah criticised the club after being benched for last week’s 3-3 draw against Leeds, accusing Liverpool of throwing him “under the bus” and saying he had no relationship with Slot.

The match was the third consecutive game he failed to start.

The 33-year-old also did not travel for Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League win at Inter Milan, instead posting a picture of himself training alone at the club’s gym.

Slot told reporters he would only comment further after speaking with the player. “The outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow,” he said.

He confirmed multiple discussions had already taken place between Salah, his representatives and the club following the Sunderland game earlier this month. Slot added he had no reason to want Salah to leave.

Salah is expected to join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations after the Brighton fixture. The forward, who is third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, has scored four goals in 13 league appearances this season.

Liverpool, last season’s Premier League champions, currently sit 10th after a poor run of form.
