Crystal Palace have expressed interest in signing Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, with the club enquiring about the Swiss international’s availability.
While no official bid has yet been tabled, sources indicate that City would demand around £15 million for the 30-year-old, who has not featured in either of their opening Premier League fixtures this season.
Akanji, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, played a crucial role in Pep Guardiola’s side that secured the historic treble in 2023, including starting in the Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.
However, with increased competition for places at the Etihad, his future appears uncertain.
Crystal Palace are keen to bolster their defensive options, though they face competition from Turkish champions Galatasaray, who have also shown strong interest in the centre-back.
Earlier this month, Guardiola admitted City were prioritising outgoings after spending over £150m on six new signings this summer, stressing that the current squad size was “not healthy.”
The transfer window closes at 19:00 BST on Monday, leaving Palace in a race against time to secure Akanji’s signature.
