A passenger train on the Abuja–Kaduna rail line on Tuesday derailed due to yet-to-be-ascertained reasons, leaving passengers scrambling for safety as many of the coaches went off track.
According to News posted on NTA X handle, the train departed Abuja at 9:45 on Tuesday morning, with the incident occurring around Asham along the corridor.
As at the time of this report, no casualties have been confirmed, and officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation are yet to issue an official statement.
The exact cause of the derailment is still unknown, but investigations are expected to commence immediately.
This marks the latest in a string of rail-related disruptions along the Abuja–Kaduna route, the most recent being a hot axle incident recorded near Rigasa Station just last week.
