The Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the people of the state and the federal government to look into what it described as the illegalities contained in the 2026 appropriation bill been presented by governor Dauda Lawal.
The state APC publicity secretary Yusuf Idris Gusau stated this in a press statement made available to Blueprint Thursday.
The party maintained that the annual appropriation bill, internal revenue generation and expenditure on public resources was nothing but contained illegalities.
The party said the N861billion presented by the governor before the State House of Assembly was allegedly filled with suspicious, unconstitutional and illegal issues.
“Like last year, the 2025 budget proposal was presented to less than two third of the 24 members of the House of Assembly which, in gross violation of the nation’s constitution which requires a two third majority on issues bordering budget, impeachment and other related matters.
He emphasised that since the abnormality was not challenged by all but the opposition APC, the governor took it for granted by repeating the same violation today”.
“In order to avoid questions that will compel necessary response from the governor, the government and the legislature barred journalists from covering the event which held behind closed doors at the Jibril Bala Yakubu Secretariat Conference Hall away from the State House of Assembly complex, which is totally condemnable and an act of dictatorship”, the party said.
“Even at that, the venue had no President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s portrait, nor the Coat of Arms, nor the governor’s picture except that of the Speaker which is also unconstitutional”.
“Planning ahead of the illegalities, the executive in collaboration with the legislature made sure it suspended all law makers across party line”.
The party called on the federal government to suspend federal allocation as a first step to the state until the right thing was done.
