The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 68-year-old woman, Mrs. Victoria Madubuko, of Ndiambe Ozuitem in Bende Local Government Area, for allegedly flogging a young woman to death with a native cane.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Abia Command, CP Danladi Isa, the tragic incident involved 22-year-old Miss Nnenna Eke, who reportedly had an altercation with Mrs. Madubuko. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly used a traditional whip known locally as “Okpete” on the victim.
Speaking at the command headquarters in Umuahia, CP Isa confirmed that the young lady fell seriously ill as a result of the beating. She was rushed to Tochi Hospital, where doctors later pronounced her dead.

The police commissioner further revealed that the deceased’s body has been deposited at a mortuary in Akaelu, Bende LGA, while the suspect remains in custody. He added that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia, has commenced a thorough investigation into the matter.
In a separate case, According to Daily Post, CP Isa also reported the arrest of one Mr. Chimaobi Nwanne, who allegedly stabbed 31-year-old Mr. Chinonso Chukwuemeka of Abayi village during a dispute over a business transaction.
The commissioner explained that the victim sustained a fatal chest wound and was immediately rushed to Akachukwu Hospital, Eastern Ngwa, where doctors confirmed him dead.
Following the attack, the suspect reportedly fled to Umuezenta Mbasi village but was later apprehended by officers attached to Eastern Ngwa Divisional Headquarters. CP Isa assured that investigations are ongoing in both incidents.
