32,000 To Benefit From Kogi Free Formal Sector Healthcare Plan

Kogi State Governor, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo has flagged off the digital capture and enrolment of 32,000 beneficiaries from the state’s Formal Sector Plan for Civil Servants as a measure to access free and quality healthcare services in the state.

Governor Ododo, at the event which took place in Lokoja, also flagged off Access to Care for 41,587 beneficiaries and launched the 10 years strategic plan of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency from 2024 to 2033.

While speaking at the event, Ododo expressed satisfaction with the operations of the health insurance agency, adding that it’s time for the people to enjoy the reason they voted him as their governor.

He explained that the state government is getting it right by taking governance to the grassroots.

Governor Ododo further assured the people of the state of his administration’s commitment to continually provide them with good governance.

He said, “We have no reason not to deliver good governance to the people of Kogi State because we have all the necessary support that we need from the Federal Government, and we will not disappoint our people.

“I belong to the constituency of the vulnerable and the indigent, and we have no reason than to key into the programmes that will make life easier for the people,” the governor added.

Ododo also thanked his predecessor, Alh. Yahaha Bello for laying the foundation upon which he is building quality healthcare for the people of the state.

He announced a deliberate plan to revamp the 868 unproductive primary healthcare centres which will commence by renovating and equipping a total of 63 primary healthcare centres with three centres in each of the 21 local government areas.

The Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledare expressed firm belief that the Plan for Civil Servants today will provide a strong foundation for the state to rapidly scale up in the Informal Sector population coverage.

He said, “Formalizing the Informal Sector is a key strategy that can fasttrack Informal Sector participation.

“History will be kind to us that we are gathered here to provide hope to the Civil Servants and their dependents through the Formal Sector Plan which has the propensity to reduce the financial burden associated with paying out-of-pocket for health, particularly in the face of rising medical inflation.

“This bold step makes Kogi State the third state in the North-Central states to commence the Formal Sector Plan for their employees,” Aledare said.

He added that KGSHIA carried the moral burden of accelerating the attainment of Universal Health Coverage in the state, assuring that no one will be left behind.
