2027 Presidency: “Makinde-Bala Ticket Can Defeat Tinubu”

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has stated that he and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, would form a “perfect match” if paired on a joint ticket.

The potential pairing is being considered ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The comment was made during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday

Mohammed, who was responding to speculations about a possible vice-presidential slot alongside Makinde, emphasized the importance of a balanced ticket that reflects Nigeria’s religious and regional diversity.

He suggested that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should present a Christian presidential candidate from the South paired with a Muslim vice-presidential candidate from the North.

He said, “Seyi Makinde-Bala Mohammed ticket can match even better. Because to me, it depends on what Nigerians want.

“If they want the continuation of this clueless administration, then it is the choice of Nigerians.

“ But certainly, they have seen the pedigree, the capacity of Seyi and my humble self at the subnational level.”

Mohammed noted that the PDP has not narrowed down any candidates and stressed that the party remains open to options from all regions.

He criticized the APC’s 2023 ticket selection, pointing out that it failed to properly consider Nigeria’s diversity, leading to a Muslim-Muslim ticket that stirred controversy.

He added, “We need a Christian from the South to emerge as a presidential candidate so that he will lead the majority of Christian southerners to pick a majority Muslim vice president in the North, not to put ourselves in the cul-de-sac the way a man in APC did in 2023.”

The governor concluded that PDP’s approach would allow Nigerians to have a fair choice while ensuring inclusivity and representation across the country’s religious and regional spectrum.
