The Presidency has expressed strong confidence in President
Bola Tinubu’s chances of winning re-election in 2027, saying no politician in
Nigeria has what it takes to challenge him.
The Special Adviser to the President on Policy
Communication, Daniel Bwala, said this in Abuja on Tuesday during a meeting
with over 100 Tinubu support groups from across the country.
The event, tagged “Meet and Greet with the Spokesman,” was
aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Presidency and grassroots
supporters ahead of the next general elections.
“We thought that as part of the strategy to spread the gains
of this administration, it is good we connect with the source — the support
groups — engage with them, appreciate them for what they have been doing, and
then ask them to do more for the love of the country and for the love of the
President,” Bwala said.
He stated that Tinubu’s policies and reforms over the past
two years have restored confidence in the country’s economy and governance,
making his re-election bid certain.
“No politician in Nigeria today has the capacity to
challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We are moving from renewed hope to
recovery, and that recovery must be felt in the lives of ordinary Nigerians,”
he added.
Bwala explained that representatives from all six
geopolitical zones and some delegates from the United Kingdom attended the
meeting. He clarified that the gathering was not a campaign rally but a way to
build better coordination between the government and its supporters.
“People often wait until election time to look for support
groups, but that is not the right way to do it. They are not tools to be used;
they are partners in the process. They must be part of what the government is
doing,” he said.
He revealed that similar meetings would soon be held in the
United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada to engage Nigerians in the
diaspora and promote awareness of the government’s achievements.
Bwala said Tinubu’s economic reforms are already producing
visible results across various sectors, including energy, agriculture,
infrastructure, and job creation. “When we go to the field, you will see
progress across the economy, security, education, and agriculture. These groups
will continue to carry that message,” he noted.
Former lawmaker Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, who also spoke
at the event, praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a reformer who has
laid a strong foundation for lasting development.
He applauded the removal of fuel subsidy, saying it has
freed up trillions of naira for state governments to fund local development
projects. Both Bwala and Agbonayinma urged support groups to continue promoting
the administration’s policies and unity across the country.
“President Tinubu has done enough to deserve not only the
people’s support but also their love and commitment to enhance what his
government has started,” Bwala concluded.
