The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says former President Goodluck Jonathan has not informed him of any intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Wike made the clarification on Friday during a media parley with journalists in Abuja, following reports that the former president was being urged to return to the presidential race.

“You’re the one telling me here. Jonathan has never told me; he has never called me one day,” Wike said.

He noted that he would only take such reports seriously if Jonathan personally reached out to him to discuss his political plans.

“If he calls me and says, ‘Look, I’m being pressured to run, what do you think?’ I’ll be able to tell him my mind and what I feel,” he added.

The minister dismissed the reports as mere speculation, warning against believing everything published in the media.

“I won’t assume something is true just because it appears in the newspapers — just like when they said I’d been flown out of the country,” Wike stated.
