Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, has described former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as a “good guy” he could potentially align with ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed made the comment on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where discussions centred on the newly formed opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

While dismissing the coalition as presently constituted, the Kaduna-born politician stressed that aside from his former principal, Peter Obi, Amaechi was one of the few political figures he could consider working with.

“Rotimi Amaechi is a good guy. He is one of those I can adopt,” he said.

The ADC coalition, championed by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Amaechi, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Obi, has generated widespread debate about possible realignments ahead of the next election cycle.

However, Baba-Ahmed clarified that he was not prepared to work with the coalition on the ADC platform, despite acknowledging Amaechi’s qualities.
