There are indications that Nigeria’s Super Eagles will pocket $50,000 for every goal scored in Sunday night’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs final versus Democratic Republic of Congo.
Though not confirmed by either the National Sports Commission or Nigeria Football Federation, the gesture will serve as morale booster as the team push for the next World Cup ticket.
The Nigerian players had earned $120,000 for the 4-1 victory over the Panthers of Gabon last Thursday.
Eric Chelle’s men got $30,000 for each scored against their fellow West Africans.
The gesture was initiated by the NSC, and unnamed corporate bodies.
The winner of the clash between the Super Eagles and Leopards will earn a place in the Intercontinental playoffs slated for Mexico in March 2025.
