Four African nations, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria, have officially booked their places at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, joining the growing list of teams set to feature at football’s biggest global event.

Algeria became the latest African country to secure qualification after a comprehensive victory over Somalia, giving the Desert Foxes an unassailable lead at the top of Group G.

Earlier, Egypt sealed their qualification with a dominant 3-0 win over Djibouti in Casablanca on Wednesday. The Pharaohs, who have appeared in three previous World Cups, confirmed top spot in Group A with one match to spare.

They join fellow North African heavyweights Morocco and Tunisia, who had already confirmed their tickets to North America following strong qualifying campaigns.

In total, nine African nations are guaranteed to feature at the 2026 World Cup, with one additional spot available through the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.

The CAF qualifiers, which began in November 2023, will conclude in November 2025, as other contenders battle for the remaining five automatic slots.

As the qualification race intensifies, Africa’s representation at the expanded World Cup promises to showcase some of the continent’s brightest talents on football’s grandest stage.
