The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the disappearance of a 20-year-old herder, Manu Mamuda, following an attack by suspected gunmen on a grazing field in Labau village, Wuroyanka District, Shelleng Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje told Sahara Reporters on Tuesday that the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Mamuda left home to graze his family’s cattle but never returned.
Family members and local hunters launched a search operation and later discovered Mamuda’s blood-stained cap and shoes at the grazing site.

Residents said the gunmen killed 33 cattle, injured six, and rustled 18 others during the assault. Recovered items at the scene included two arrows, an empty cartridge shell, and an AK-47 bullet casing.
“We are doing everything possible to track down the attackers, rescue the missing herder, and recover the stolen cattle,” Nguroje said.
As of Tuesday, Mamuda remained missing, while vigilantes and local hunters continue searching for both the attackers and the remaining cattle.
