Twenty three years after it was last held, Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Honourable Ajigbotafe Akinyemi has resuscitated the Commissioner’s Cup for teams in Alimosho area of the state.
According to the Commissioner, represented by Honourable Tajudeen Olatigbe, chairman of the organising committee, the last time the tournament held was during the time Aregbesola as commissioner for works in 2022.
“Since then no commissioner from the area shown interest until Honourable Akinyemi decided to revived the competition.
“It’s an opportunity for young ones in Alimosho to exhibit their talents. And we’ve carefully selected all the 16 teams based on recommendations with discipline as yardstick,” Olatigbe said.
Apart from football, the teams will also participate in draught and Ayo Olopon in the two-week tournament starting this Sunday at the San Sir stadium in Ikola.
Olatigbe added that the Alade Stadium would host the final with the winning team going home with a cash prize of N500, 000, the first runner -up N250,000 while the third place team will go home with N250,000 as well as trophies and medals.
