Eleven people, including women and children abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in a fishing community in Doron Baga, Borno state have regained their freedom.
A source said the abduction was carried out on February 13, 2025, by notorious Commander Tar, who has been terrorising fishermen and farmers on the shores of Lake Chad.
Tar and his men stormed the Shawaram community in Kukawa local government and abducted 14 people, including women and children.
A local community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated that the terrorists demanded a ransom shortly after the abduction.
“Eleven of our people have been rescued after a payment of N1.4 million raised by members of the community,” he said.
He said three people were still in captivity, including one woman, as of Monday evening when our reporter followed up on the report.
